If you had asked me 20 years ago what I envisioned for life in my 70s, I might’ve said “peace and quiet” or “a little garden and a rocking chair.” And while that still sounds nice, I’ve realized that peace and longevity take planning.
Both sides of my family have a track record of living well into their 90s. And I don’t mean just existing—I mean living. That’s a blessing, but it also means I need to make intentional choices now if I want to live well then.
Here are a few shifts I’m making to support my future self:
🥗 Health First:
Aging doesn’t have to mean decline. I’m doing what I can to stay strong and active:
- My daughter’s walking treadmill has become my new accountability partner. I’m pushing for 10K steps daily instead of my usual 5K (or at minimum 30 minutes per day).
- I’m also expanding my garden, focusing on food I can trust. Homegrown, chemical-free, and rich in nutrients—yes, please!
💵 Wealth That Lasts:
Living longer means my money has to go the distance too. Think stretching like a yoga instructor.
- I’ve always been frugal, but now I’m laser-focused on spending with intention and investing in my future.
- I regularly ask myself, “Will this serve me in the long run?” That one question helps me avoid emotional spending and stay aligned with my goals.
🌱 It’s All Connected:
Health and wealth are deeply intertwined. The habits I create now—how I move, what I eat, how I spend—are shaping the quality of life I’ll have later.
So, I’ll ask you what I asked myself:
What do you envision your 70s, 80s, and 90s to look like?
And more importantly, what steps are you taking now to make that vision a reality?

And yes—sometimes I share garden pics too. Because what’s more poetic than watching something you planted months ago finally bear fruit?
